Small Hidroelectric Central Control System of Candanchú. "Calvo Electrics".

The system of this small hidroelectric central was designed for a supervision and control enough easy because only one operator had to be required.

Small central basic features are:

  • "Pelton" turbine, horizontal, double injector.
  • Asyncronous generator of 250 KW.
  • Maximum power estimated = 230 KW.
Control System description:

The control system is composed of one PLC (ABB's KT94), one touch screen (Hitech's PWS 700-X), one alarms' printer and a small local control desk.

Communication between screen and PLC is done via series port, using MODBUS protocol. Communication between PLC and printer is done by another series line.

Using the touch screen or the local desk, operator can perform basic orders to operate over the small central. These orders are: Start, Stop, Emergency Stop and alarm acknowledgment.

Once the Start order is given, and if system status is correct, the control system begin the starting sequence. Once the Generator have achieved the electric net frequency, engages small central to the electric net and mainteins it at regime, always looking at the water level available. If this level isn't enough, an Emergency Stop is produced.

The system is conceived in order that the central works practically disregarded, registering possible events at the alarms' printer and stoping the central if any critical alarm ir produced. In the touch screen, operator can visualize the status of each central's elements: Injectors, valves, deflectors, etc.
